Stevie the horse….

I’m always up for trying something new.  So when I was asked if I could take some photos of a horse by a friend of Justine’s, I was definitely up for it.  That’s when I met the cheeky, mischievous,  Stevie the horse.

These photos are from a quick visit to a dressage meet here in Canberra, just to get a sense of what all this horse stuff was about.  It was an opportunity to meet Stevie and his owner/rider, Jenny, and learn a few things about horses.  Like not standing too close the back of them.  Fortunately I didn’t learn that one the hard way as I hear they can kick with quite some force.  Looking at how muscular they are too, I don’t doubt it.  Would you want 800kg of horse kicking you in man parts?  I don’t think so.

This coming weekend we are going to get a few photos of Stevie on his home turf.  I’m thinking about approaching the shoot like a ‘high fashion’ shoot with Stevie as the model, and see what we get.  Apparently he will be fine with the flashing and blinking lights of my strobes, but we’ll see.  I don’t want to upset him, but I think it would be quite cool.

But for now, here’s a few photos of him at the dressage event.

  1. What a beautiful horse. I can’t wait to see the next phase of photo’s.

  2. Being the owner/rider of the cheeky boy Stevie, I was absolutely wrapped with Jamie’s photography. For someone with no horse experience Jamie certainly has a wonderful skill and eye for capturing stunning photos. After seeing the dressage photos I am so excited about what he is going to produce for the “high fashion” shots.

Thank you for making us look so good, even in the “naughty” Stevie shots. You are incredible.
